Africa Queer Network Uganda

With the grant, Africa Queer Network (AQNET) organized a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on the inclusion of LBQT Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in climate justice advocacy. The workshop brought together over 30 activists, researchers, and community leaders to explore the intersection of climate science, gender, and human rights. Through this workshop, participants gained foundational knowledge in climate change, learned about the disproportionate impacts on marginalized women and girls, and developed advocacy strategies for gender-responsive climate action. The workshop sessions also highlighted the critical role and risks faced by environmental human rights defenders. Through interactive discussions, storytelling, and policy engagement strategies, the workshop empowered participants to become advocates for intersectional climate justice and laid the foundation for sustained community-led advocacy efforts.
