Young Entrepreneurship Scheme-Uganda

Our program

We are women empowering teenage mothers and other women in underserved communities through practical entrepreneurship training, business start-up support, and mentorship. We create pathways for them to build sustainable businesses that address community needs, achieve economic independence, and uplift those around them.

Thematic areas

  • Entrepreneurship and economic empowerment: equipping women and teenage mothers with practical business and financial skills, supporting them to start, manage, and grow sustainable enterprises. Through training, startup support, access to resources, and financial literacy, we promote long-term stability.
  • Mentorship, leadership, and personal growth. We connect the women with mentors, coaches, and peers who inspire confidence, leadership, and resilience. Participants build self-belief and networks needed to thrive through guidance and peer learning.
  • Mental health and Community well-being. Our programs integrate mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and a safe space for dialogue, fostering wellbeing and thriving communities
  • Skills development and innovation. We provide hands-on vocational and digital training that encourages creativity, problem-solving and innovation. Our programs nurture women to design community-based solutions and adapt to changing markets and technologies.

Current measurable metrics:

  • Run 4 cohorts since 2021
  • Trained over 140 women in entrepreneurship skills
  • 25  plus businesses established

Current needs:

Financial and technical support to secure training space, purchase equipment and materials, and develop the Skilling centre. We also need capacity building to strengthen our team’s skills, like proposal writing, partnership building, and business development.

Future plans:

Establish a dedicated skilling centre where the young women and teenage mothers can access continuous practical entrepreneurship and vocational training. This will also be a hub for mentorship, innovation, and community learning, enabling us to reach beneficiaries sustainably.
