Fikra Mpya Organization is a dynamic, youth-led non-governmental organization committed to empowering children, adolescents, and women across Tanzania. Founded in 2018 as a grassroots group of six passionate individuals and officially registered as a Community-Based Organization in 2019, Fikra Mpya grew rapidly in response to pressing social challenges affecting vulnerable groups. In November 2023, it transitioned into a fully recognized NGO (Reg. No. 00NGO/R/5632), gaining the mandate to operate nationally from its headquarters in Shinyanga Municipal.
The organization works through four thematic areas: human rights promotion (focusing on GBV, VAC, and VAWC), youth and women economic empowerment, climate change adaptation, and health education with emphasis on SRHR and HIV/AIDS. Fikra Mpya believes in building inclusive communities where rights are protected, opportunities are equal, and young people are inspired to lead positive change.
Over the years, the organization has implemented impactful initiatives such as the Youth Café Programme and Her Choice Project, reaching more than 1,800 adolescents and supporting young mothers with vocational skills to improve their livelihoods. By combining advocacy, capacity building, and grassroots engagement, Fikra Mpya has become a trusted voice in advancing gender equality, promoting youth participation, and strengthening community resilience.
