Organizational Bio:
Africa Queer Network (AQNET) is a regional feminist, queer-led movement dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of LGBTQI women and gender-diverse persons across Africa. Through advocacy, research, movement building, and grassroots organizing, we create safe, inclusive, and sustainable spaces for community resilience, healing, and justice.

Current Measurable Metrics:

  • Reached over 600 LGBTQI women and gender-diverse persons through capacity-building and wellness initiatives.
  • Supported 3 grassroots shelters and community collectives with advocacy and resource mobilization.
  • Published two research briefs on climate justice and queer womn’s realities in rural contexts(SRHR).

What’s Next for Our Organization:

  • Expanding our climate justice program with a focus on queer women-led green innovations.
  • Strengthening cross-border queer feminist movement-building in East and Central Africa.
  • Establishing a regional queer feminist knowledge hub for advocacy, health justice, and learning.

Current Needs:

  • Flexible funding for movement building, health advocacy, and protection interventions.
  • Partnerships for climate justice research, grassroots capacity building, and health advocacy.
  • Resources for digital safety, wellness, and healing justice programs.
