MADATE
Peperusha Binti is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) mandated to implement interventions in the areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Gender-based violence with a focus on adolescent and youth.
What sets Peperusha Binti apart is its holistic approach to empowerment and their unique way of incorporating Art in their activities with the community. Beyond offering mentorship and advocacy, the organization also integrates environmental sustainability, mental well-being, and economic empowerment into its programs. This ensures that interventions do not just address immediate needs but foster long-term resilience and independence among women and girls.
The organization champions eco-friendly practices by promoting environmental awareness among women and girls, integrating climate education into its programs, and encouraging green initiatives such as tree planting, waste management, and sustainable livelihood projects. This helps to build environmentally conscious communities while strengthening women’s role as custodians of natural resources.
Peperusha Binti actively engages in community outreach initiatives, including sexual and reproductive health education, mentorship for young girls, and support for survivors of gender-based violence. It also collaborates with local leaders, schools and grassroot groups to drive positive change and amplify the voices of women and girls at all levels of society.
The organization currently operates with a dedicated team of Seven employees and a wider network of volunteers and partners who support program implementation and outreach activities.
Peperusha Binti has been in existence for the last five years, steadily growing its impact and building a reputation as a reliable and innovative grassroots initiative for women’s empowerment.
Like many grassroots organizations, Peperusha Binti faces challenges such as limited financial resources, inadequate infrastructure, and barriers to reaching remote and marginalized communities. Additionally, cultural resistance to gender equality and the limited mental health support systems poses hurdles in fully realizing its mission. Despite these challenges, the organization continues to innovate, build partnerships, and amplify community-driven solutions.

- Capacity strengthening of 2026/2028 strategic plan
- If we are able to access funds, we look forward to the implementation of the safeher project – The purpose of SafeHer: Safeguarding and Wellness for Adolescent Girls and Young Women for Accountability is to strengthen community-based protection systems and promote holistic well-being for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in rural and peri-urban areas of Kisumu County. This initiative responds to critical gaps in safeguarding, mental health support, and access to safe spaces for girls, particularly those at risk of gender-based violence (GBV), exploitation, and emotional trauma.
- We look forward to having girls only safe space where we can freely and comfortable hold conversations with the adolescent girls and also giving them the opportunity to show their skills through art and yoga
- Expand community dialogues with parents, caregivers, men, and boys to challenge harmful gender norms, promote positive masculinity, and foster community responsibility for the protection of girls and young women.
- Strengthen advocacy efforts to influence county and national policies on gender equality, safeguarding, and mental health. Build stronger coalitions with grassroots groups, networks, and women-led organizations to amplify collective voices.
- Establish a knowledge hub that documents experiences, success stories, and lessons learned from community interventions.

Testimonial
My experience with Peperusha Binti in 2024 has been both refreshing and trans-formative. From the introduction of exciting new activities to the opportunity to meet new faces through our sessions, I’ve come to appreciate how Peperusha Binti has finally established a safe and consistent space for us girls. This dedicated and secure environment feels far more grounded.
The activities themselves are something to look forward to, with thoughtfully chosen and ever-changing topics that keep us engaged and excited. Beyond the discussions, we’ve had the chance to learn new skills like dance, yoga, and painting—creative outlets that have taught us healthy ways to express our emotions without always needing words.
I am deeply grateful for the support and collaboration of the partners and individuals who have contributed to the success of these activities. Your efforts have enriched our well-being as adolescent girls, and your commitment to our growth is truly appreciated.
