Through the grant, The Smile Initiative launched the Timiza Ndoto project, which empowered 10 young mothers from Vikindu, Tanzania, through mentorship, vocational training, and income-generating activities such as poultry farming. Their project focused on fostering economic independence, enhancing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) awareness, and building strong peer networks among young women.
With the grant support, the 10 young mothers received tailored training in life skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, alongside support for small business startups, mentorship, and community integration. Through participating in this program, the young mothers improved their socio-economic status, gained knowledge in nutrition and child health, and gained access to platforms for collaboration, peer learning, networking, and mentorship.
