Women and Youth Movement

With the grant, the Women and Youth Movement (WOYOMO) implemented the Girls Buzz Movement aimed at empowering young women aged 18–24 in Dar es Salaam through feminist leadership, providing safe spaces, mentorship, and skill-building. The initiative reached over 100 girls and young women who participated in a needs assessment for girls and young women, a two-day feminist leadership and advocacy workshop, and the launch of the Girls Buzz online community platform, which now connects over 70 active members.

The project equipped over 30 young leaders with advocacy and self-care skills, strengthened WOYOMO’s digital infrastructure, and expanded partnerships across youth-led and feminist networks. It also elevated the importance of mental health and mentorship in feminist organizing, creating an inclusive and resilient support system for emerging young feminist leaders.

Anti-Domestic Violence centre

With support from the Learning Initiative Grant, members of the Anti-Domestic Violence Center (ADOVIC) implemented an Urban Farming in Schools project aimed at educating girls on the intersection of climate change and gender-based violence (GBV), while equipping them with practical urban farming skills.

Marafiki United Green Youths Initiative Limited

With support from the Grant, the Girls for Girls project empowered adolescent girls and young feminists in Kawempe from April to November 2024.

Kazi Women Foundation

Through its flagship program, Kazi Girls, Kazi Women Foundation empowered girls aged 8 to 16 to design and lead their own initiative.

A hand For a Refugee

A hand for a refugee, were able to launch an initiative that focused on reducing gender-based violence (GBV) in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Uganda.

Girl Power Community Uganda

With the grant, Girl Power Community Uganda empowered over 500 girls and young women with disabilities, along with an additional 500 community members.

Mummies Touch Skills Development Centre

With the grant, Mummies Touch Skills acquired materials for making reusable diapers. The initiative plans to implement a training program that equips young women with practical skills in making of reusable diapers, and to support the participants to transform these skills into income-generating ventures.
